Moving in Uganda is so fast and quick, there are many means of transport with which you can reach out to all parts of the country. The country is bordered by Kenya in the east, South Sudan in the north, Tanzania in the south, Rwanda and DRC in the west. Even though the country is landlocked, connecting to and from Uganda to nearby countries or also far more countries are so quickly made by many means of transport available.
Air transport, flying to and from Uganda is so easy and Entebbe is the international airport of Uganda located 40 kilometers from Kampala which is the capital city. There are flights like Rwanda air, Kenya airways, Ethiopia airways; KLM, British Airways, Egypt Air, Tanzania air, Sabena and many more flights to and from Entebbe. This has made it so simple for travelers from all over the world to reach Uganda the pearl of Africa and get to enjoy all it has to offer.
Currently, Entebbe airport is under expansion and renovation, which has improved its capacity to an international standard. more to that, there are domestic flights from the airport connecting to many sites within Uganda, these include a flight from Entebbe to Kisoro and Kihihi airstrips in Bwindi forest, Mweya airstrip and Kasese airstrip in Queen Elizabeth national park, Pakuba airstrip and Chobe airstrip in Murchison falls as well as Apoka airstrip in Kidepo valley National Park.
Road Transport; is the most used means of transport in Uganda. Public roads that connect to different destinations have been constructed and rehabilitated making transport to all parts of the country so easy. More so road transport crosses borders to nearby countries like Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Road transport involves the use of; Public buses that are meant to be used for long travels like the whole day. The links to the remote areas like national parks, the game reserves and other places located far from the city. These busses carry a big population of people like 70 and always drive at a terrible speed due to the long distances to be covered.
The taxis; are meant to carry only 14 passengers transferring from the city to the nearby villages. These matatus always take people from one site to another and they always set off when they are full, drop and pick more people on the way. These Matatus carry a specific number of people in the city but normally exceed the carrying capacity when they reach the areas outside the city.
Special hire cars; these are hired by Car Rental companies in Uganda or even individuals meant to take the travelers to a specific location. Once the individual hires a car, the driver is not allowed to add other people except that very person or a specific group of people. A vehicle can be hired alone or with a driver depending on what the traveler wants.
The Boda Bodas; these are used in towns and cities riding travelers for a short distance in the city. When you board a Bodaboda, there are no stopovers till you reach your final destination which makes it the quickest means of transport for many people with limited time. Though, Boda Bodas are expensive as compared to the taxis.
The water transport; is used in Uganda and here the people cross over from point to another on the water by the use of a boat, ferry, and canoes. This means of transport is mostly used by people surrounded by water bodies and those tourists interested in touring the islands at the lake and other water bodies.
Railway transport; is used in connecting people and goods to Kisume in Kenya and Mombasa in Tanzania. You can also get a local railway train that operates from Kampala to Mukono daily from morning to evening.
Walking by foot; this is common in Uganda and the people foot much in the city centers and villages. Most people are seen walking along the main straights and some are carrying baggage. Serious walking is done in the morning and evening hours as people report to work and then go back home. The footing is very free in all cities but the travelers are reminded to keep in their lane for pedestrians and also to be careful when crossing the road.
