Ghana’s Opponents for 2022 World Cup qualifying Stage Determined

Black Stars’ opponents in the second round of the World Cup 2022 to be hosted by Qatar has been confirmed.

A draw held in the Egyptian capital of Cairo on Tuesday to decide the groupings saw Ghana being grouped with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia in the third round of the qualifiers for the 2022 Fifa World Cup.

The matches will be played between October this year and October next year.

Ghana are seeking to make another appearance at the global showpiece since their last appearance at Brazil 2014 where they where they failed to go beyond the group stage.

Africa’s five representatives for the final tournament in Qatar will be decided by the 10 group winners in a play-off home and away fixtures in November next year.

The Black Stars made their first appearance at the world cup in Germany 2006 which they reached the Round of 16 stage before going on to make the quarter-final in South Africa four years later.

The Black Stars failed to qualify beyond the group stage in 2014 in Brazil , finishing bottom of Group G behind eventual champions Germany, United States of America and Portugal.
