WhatsApp’s privacy settings are among its strengths as an app. Among them is the possibility of deactivating the read confirmation. But you can also choose not to be so radical. There are still a few tips for reading messages without the other party knowing it. In this article, we show you all the methods to read WhatsApp messages without being seen.

It must be admitted that the experience is much less interesting with the different privacy options of WhatsApp which makes the application a bit uninteresting, apart from its usefulness for constantly staying in touch with relatives, friends and distant acquaintances. To make interactions more transparent and above all more fun, many prefer to keep the read confirmation and the last connection notification enabled.

But at the same time, it must be said that it is not all the time that we want to read the messages while letting the other party know. In this case, there are a few tips for reading messages without the read receipt. Here are 4 ways to do it, some more obvious than others.
Method 1. Using The WhatsApp Widget.

It is by far the most complete and effective method to read WhatsApp messages without being seen. In other words, without the two gray lines turning blue at the senders. Unfortunately, it is only available to Android OS users. All you have to do is create a WhatsApp Widget on the home screen of your smartphone.

With the WhatsApp Widget, you can read all the latest messages received without opening the application. And therefore without sending the read notification. You still need to make enough space on the home screen.
Method 2. Reading through the notifications drawer

This is the most obvious method. It has its limits, but can still be practical in most cases. The notifications pane provides an overview of the latest messages received.

Just pull it out without accessing the app. But the drawback of this trick is that long messages are cut on display. You must necessarily open the application to read them in full.
Method 3. Activating airplane mode

This method also has a defect which makes it much less effective than the first one above. But be aware that it is possible not to send the read receipt simply by activating the airplane mode or even by deactivating the Wi-Fi or 4G data before opening WhatsApp. But beware, this tip only works when you close the application after reading the message and before deactivating the airplane mode or resetting the connection.

You must, therefore, go to the list of recent applications and slide WhatsApp on the side to close it. The second downside is that it suffices to receive a new message for the application to open automatically in the background. And so, the two blue lines will appear at the sender of the message read in secret, even if you have not returned to WhatsApp since reading.
Method 4. Disable read receipt in privacy

Finally, the most direct method. You do it once and then you don’t get dirty anymore. Both acknowledgment lines will remain gray as long as the read receipt remains disabled. To do this, go to privacy settings.

Open WhatsApp and click on the three vertical dots at the top right
Select Settings, then My Account> Privacy
Scroll down and uncheck the “Read Confirmations” option

That’s all. It is up to you to choose the method that you consider most relevant. And if you want to reactivate the read confirmation after having deactivated it as indicated in method 4, the tracking flows naturally.
