This year Nigeria marks a century since its 1914 amalgamation, along with 54 years of Independence. To celebrate this, beginning on the 29th September, The Africa Channel is dedicating an entire week to Nigeria – showcasing some of best Nigerian programming that we have to offer!

The highlight of the week-long celebration, is everyone’s favourite, top-rated Nigerian soap opera Tinsel. Shot on location in Lagos, and set in the glittering and dynamic world of film production, Nigeria’s most successful soap opera marries all the elements of drama, intrigue, romance, deception, betrayal and triumph into one thrilling “must-watch” series.

The Africa channel will also be showing a range of award-winning movies, from one of the most vibrant and successful movie genres to come out of Africa, Nollywood. Showcasing the best that Nollywood has to offer, the channel will air films such as Somewhere In Africa (a bloodthirsty military leader establishes a new regime in Kimbala to overthrow the President); light-hearted comedy, Osuofia in London (the discovering that his long-forgotten brother has died in London, leaving him all of his money leads Osoufia on a hilarious adventure); and Sinking Sand, the tragic tale of a happily married couple who’s loving relationship takes a turn for the worst after a terrible accident.
