India Arie Covers “Yoga Journal’s” Music Issue

In the September 2012 issue of Yoga Journal, singer India Arie talks about how she took time away from the limelight to find a way to center herself. When she went home from the 2002 Grammy Awards without a single victory from her seven nominations and then received little success from her 2006 album, Testimony, “I had to leave the road and get myself together,” she says.

She began doing yoga after her tour ended and it’s now a permanent part of her daily routine. Arie also improved her diet and has found that her music has changed along with her.

“Everything in my music has always been emotionally and spiritually motivated…But after I started doing yoga, the place where I came from changed drastically,” she says.

Fans will get a taste of this new sound when Arie drops her new album, Open Door, this year.
