The winners of the Docubox Short Film pitch competition announced at the NBO Film Festival 2019 on October 26, 2018 are Ian Kithinji, Brian Munene, and Laurence Murage.

The Documentary Fund of East Africa popularly known as Docubox hosts screenings of both documentaries and short films. As its names suggests, the fund also sources monies to support documentary films and other types of films in our corner of the world.

The fund made a callout for filmmakers for this year’s Film Pitch competition which last year was won by Lydia Matata and Neha Manoj Shah. The two each got a grant of Kshs200,000 to turn their films into a short film to be screened at a future edition of “Shorts, Shorts and Shots” which turned out to be at this year’s NBO Film Festival.

This year’s winners of the pitch competition, unlike in the previous year where two filmmakers got their chance, were three after a contribution from legendary filmmaker Njeri Karago.
