How do you shave gently? Nothing could be simpler if you follow these tips carefully to avoid razor bumps and get smoother skin than ever.
Catherine Brandenberger, Marketing Director of the Energizer group (brands Energizer, Wilkinson and Hawaiian Tropic) gives you the 5 commandments of shaving.
1. Prepare your skin well
Preferably shave in the morning, ideally a quarter of an hour after waking up. Cleanse your skin carefully to remove excess sebum and impurities. Use lukewarm water on your face. You can also shave after the shower, hot water softening your hair and epidermis.
2. Protect your skin
To facilitate the passage of the blade, apply a thin layer of foam or gel evenly to your skin. Let it sit for one minute. Your skin is ready for the big leap!

3. Choose the right razor
The offer is overwhelming in this area, and innovation is on the market for razors. Two, three, four or five blades, flexible, vibration, with integrated mower …
Difficult to give a real instruction as the shaving is personal. One watchword: experiment with all these razors to find the one that suits you best. Angular faces can appreciate ultra-flexible blades, sensitive skin prefers the latest technological innovations in four-five blades … or not! The choice is personal, but do not hesitate to try various products and shake up your habits.
4. Gentle gestures
Check the edge of your blade and do not hesitate to change it as soon as it hooks or pulls. Shave in the direction of the hair to avoid irritation. Be careful, not all hairs grow in the same direction! Start with the less sensitive areas like the cheeks or the neck and finish with the areas where the hair is harder. Make slow, steady movements.
5. After shaving
Rinse your face thoroughly with cold water to tighten the pores of the skin. To soothe and hydrate your skin, apply an alcohol-free aftershave balm or cream. Do not forget to rinse your razor after each use!
