Wiz Kid UK Tour

On Friday (26th Sep), we went down to the O2 indigo to watch afrobeat superstar Wizkid perform. If you don’t know who Wizkid is, he is undoubtedly the hottest star in African music right now.

After his long-awaited album leaked ahead of its release date earlier on this month, Wizkid has been the talk of London Town and this sold-out show definitely lived up to the hype.

Performing his hit singles including: Tease Me, Back To The Matter, Samba, No LeLe, Time Bomb, Jaiye Jaiye, Slow Down, Bad Girl and Pull Over, the crowd definitely got what they came for, singing along all the way through. He also performed some new material from his brand new album, Ayo (Joy), including: In My Bed, Show You the Money and Ojuelegba, and opened the show in a rather stylish red suit singing his track “Don’t Dull” to a VERY excited crowd.

It was a great night for music, and an even better night for African music. I felt really inspired watching him perform, and I’m not sure if it was the lighting or smoke, but for a split second I felt like I wanted to be an afrobeat artist! I know right, how random! But it was that inspiring. Well done to SMADE entertainment for organising yet another great show.

I don’t know what more to say about this show. It was full of energy, executed very professionally, fun and definitely worth the money. With great music from band, The Composers and some lovely moves from the D3 Dancers as well as a stellar performance from the star of the show Wizkid, I can truly say he is a talent that will go far and I can’t wait to see what he’ll be doing in the next few years.

Tinie Tempah, Krept & Konan and Tinchy Stryder also made guest appearances after watching from within the crowd and being called down by Wizkid to join him on stage for the final performance (If you didn’t know already Wizkid is signed to Disturbing London, thus the reason Tinie Tempah was there along with label mate GFrSHDJ Charlesy etc).

Oh and did I mention Wizkid was throwing money into the audience? Apparently they were $100 notes as well. Yep, definitely a show to remember for the lucky few who got their hands on those notes!!

Key Moments:

  • Wizkid bringing Chidinma on stage to perform a track
  • Maleek Berry & L.A.X joining Wizkid on stage
  • Opening act Sona getting the crowd warmed up
  • Wizkid showing everyone how to Shoki the right way
  • Tinie Tempah, Krept & Konan, Tinchy Stryder and everyone backstage jumping on stage for the final song
