In 1997, NBA player, humanitarian and philanthropist Dikembe Mutombo, with the Mutombo Foundation, began plans to open a 300-bed hospital on the outskirts of his hometown, the Congolese capital of Kinshasa. Taped on-location in the DRC, Dikembe’s Dream: A Hospital for Kinshasa documents the opening of the Marie Mutombo Hospital – named after Dikembe’s mother - the first modern medical facility to be built in that area in nearly 40 years.

The resulting pictorial entitled "The Networkers" is featured in Vanity Fair's history-making July Africa issue. This half-hour original special gives viewers exclusive insider access to the shoot and underscores the importance of bringing Africa front-and-center here in America so that the challenges, wonders and promise associated with Africa are top of mind.
