Premier general entertainment network, delivering award-winning content inspired by Africa

Hosted by Food Editor Sibahle Mtongana with a host of celebrities, this entertaining show will introduce a new style of cooking that is exciting, engaging and, more importantly, easy to do in your own kitchen.

Siba is one of South Africa’s most renowned food editors, she is young modern and spritely and has a keen sense of culinary trends within South Africa and the rest of the continent. Siba is a ‘breathe of fresh air’ with a firm handle traditional African food and health.

Sibahle Mtongana has taken the world of cooking by storm in her native South Africa, and is set to have the same success right here in the UK when Cooking with Siba airs exclusively on The Africa Channel.

So let’s get to know our kitchen hostess with the mostess:

  • Sibahle was born in East London, South Africa and moved to Cape Town to study Food and Consumer Science.
  • She began her culinary career as a Food Editor at Drum Magazine.
  • Despite previously working as a part time model and featuring in many hair and beauty adverts, Cooking with Siba is her first TV presenting role.
  • She says she was influenced by Delia Smith, and recently became a fan of Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver’s cooking shows.
  • Sibahle had to juggle planning her wedding, writing for Drum Magazine and filming her TV show at the same time in the space of 4 weeks.
  • She lists a good quality chopping board, gas stove, dishwasher, a sharp chef’s knife and a good set of pots and pans as the five things a cook should never be without in their kitchen.

I stumbled across this show last week, and really enjoyed it. Being of Caribbean descent and growing up in the UK, I didn’t know the presenter or any of the celebrities, but the show has a lot of charm and the recipes look easy to do at home.

What I’m fascinated with is how glamorous everyone looks, the makeup is FLAWLESS. i’m inspired to try harder.
