Friday 7th June – Saturday 27th July 2013

An exhibition by South African photographer Gideon Mendel, curated by Christine Eyene. Including photographs that have never been exhibited before, this exhibition presents a poignant portrayal of climate change through portraits of flood survivors in Nigeria, England, India, Haiti, Australia and Thailand. Keeping their composure, the subjects pause in front of Mendel’s camera, casting an unsettling and intense yet engaging gaze. These images, taken across the globe demonstrate a shared experience that erases geographical and cultural divides. They invite the viewer to reflect on the impact on nature by humankind, and attachment to our homes and personal belongings.

Keeping Up With The Joneses

Weekdays at 2.30pm and 11pm

We are very excited to bring you the first ever sitcom from Barbados to be broadcast on UK Television.

This brand new sitcom series stars the Joneses, a family who reluctantly becomes the subjects of reality show entitled Life & Times in the Caribbean. It requires that a camera crew follow the family around and films their every move. Irving (the patriarch of the family) signs the contract to do the show against Angela’s (his wife) wishes. Now, Irving, Angela, Tracy (their 17-year-old daughter) and Nathan (their 10-year-old son) have to coexist while looking good for the cameras, resulting in embarrassing encounters and hilariously awkward TV moments.

If you love the fantastic family sitcom Desmond’s, you’ll love this is a great new mockumentary-style show!

Now in its 9th year, Images of Black Women Film Festival brings an exciting programme of films, art and discussions to London this May.

During nearly a decade of advocacy for change in the representation of black women in film, IBW has been active in supporting upcoming filmmakers through its Emerging Filmmaker Forum and helped filmmakers (such as Rungano Nyonia, director of Mwansa The Great) produce their next projects. Presenting UK Premieres and giving exposure to little-known and important films, IBW brings the global black experience to the UK with a focus on women filmmakers. If your appetite was whetted earlier this month at Bird’s Eye View Film Festival, make sure to check out the great host of films and events on offer at IBW Film Festival in May.
